HOME>ACADEMICS>IB Diploma Curriculum

In addition to the core program of Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) and the Extended Essay (EE), IBDP students choose one subject from each of the groups 1 to 5 and one subject from either group 3, 4 or 6. If someone is taking Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS) it meets the requirements of two groups (3 &4). A sixth subject must then be chosen to meet the requirements of the diploma.

Assessment:

Students take written examinations at the end of the program, which are marked by external IB examiners. Students also complete assessment tasks in the school, which are either initially marked by teachers and then moderated by external moderators or sent directly to external examiners.

Each examined subject is graded on a scale of 1 (minimum) to 7 (maximum). The award of the Diploma requires a minimum total of 24 points and the satisfactory completion of three additional requirements. The Diploma Program candidate’s six subjects can thus yield 42 points. Three further points are available for the combination of the Extended Essay and work in TOK. The maximum possible score is therefore 45 points.
